Classes offered at INHP

One of the most important keys to long-term, successful homeownership is education. INHP offers several classes and continues to expand its course offerings. 



Money Management

Ideal for: First-time home buyers, those who are beginning in INHP programs, those who are working with a mortgage and credit specialist, those who have been referred by a lender or other organization, and those who wish to learn about credit and gain basic money management skills.

Description: This course is an introduction to the basic principles of money management and budgeting to help you make the most of your income. You'll analyze and prioritize spending choices and learn about consumer reporting agencies, elements of a personal credit report and score, and how credit scores can impact your life. Upon completion of this course, you'll receive a certificate that meets counseling requirements for INHP’s
Mortgage and Credit Counseling Program

Home Buyer Education (HBE)

Ideal for: First-time home buyers who are beginning or considering house-hunting, those who have been referred by a lender, and those who will soon close on a home.

Description: The HBE course covers all topics relevant for first-time home buyers who are "lender ready" or will soon close on a home--but it's also a great class for those who simply want to brush up on their home-buying skills.

Led by INHP instructors and industry experts--including realtors and contractors--the course covers the basic principles of the mortgage process: credit, home insurance, shopping for a home, home inspection, how to work with a contractor, and how to prepare for closing. You'll find out everything from how to select a realtor to what will happen at the closing table--and everything in between. It's a great way to get a great start in your new home.

Class length: 8 hrs (can be taken in one day or in two 4-hour sections--HBE 101 and 102)
Fee: $50 per person

Successful Renting

Ideal for: This class is ideal for people who may not be ready for homeownership in the next few years, including current renters, students preparing to live on their own, and those who are in transitional housing.

 on topics that help homeowners manage their most important asset: their home. Covers neighborhood engagement and crime, fire, and foreclosure prevention. Find out how being an asset in your neighborhood can actually improve your home!

Introduction to Financial Planning

Ideal for: Those who are completing INHP mortgage and credit counseling programs.

Description: You don't have to be rich to make smart choices now that will help you plan to reach your goals--like retirement, higher education (your children's or your own), and even vacations. This class offers a basic look at what financial planning is--and is not.

Class length: 2 hours
