Former Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut Current Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard (Invited) Families who've become successful homeowners through INHP
Bill Hudnut
During his 16-year tenure as Mayor of Indianapolis (1976-1991) Bill Hudnut was regarded by The Washington Post as having a "national reputation for revitalizing his Midwestern city." In 1987, Mayor Hudnut convened a 45-member Housing Stategy Task Force to develop a plan to address the housing needs of low-and moderate-income residents living in Marion County. This task force proposed the development of INHP as an entity charged with motivating, infomring, and supporting the partnerships needed to provide housing financing and development targeted to low- and moderate-income residents.
Hudnut is a former Congressman, author, public speaker, TV commentator, think-tank fellow, and clergyman. He currently occupies the Joseph C. Canizaro Chair for Public Policy at the Urban Land Institute. He has earned Princeton University's highest alumni honor, the Woodrow Wilson Award for public service; the Rosa Parks Award from the American Association for Affirmative Action; and City and State magazine's "National Outstanding Mayor of 1988."
Greg Ballard (Invited)

A native Hoosier, Mayor Ballard was raised on the east side of Indianapolis and is a proud graduate of Cathedral High School.
After earning his undergraduate degree in Economics from Indiana University, Mayor Ballard entered the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the Marines, he served in the Persian Gulf War and was awarded the Legion of Merit. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years service.
After leaving the Marine Corps, Mayor Ballard successfully transitioned to the corporate world. He worked for several years as North American Operations Manager for Bayer in Indianapolis. He also is the author of The Ballard Rules: Small Unit Leadership. Mayor Ballard has been active in the community, serving as a tutor and an Advisory Board Member for the Lilly Boys and Girls Club, as a contributing editor to both the Indiana Minority Business Magazine and the Indiana Parenting Magazine, and as founder of the Indianapolis Writers Group.
INHP Families
Without home buyers' dedication and commitment, INHP's mission cannot be realized. Nearly every day, there is a story to share about a home buyer's perseverence, new understanding, hope, and determination. Each year, we applaud their success and marvel at how lives change through long-term homeownership. The Community Breakfast will feature some truly amazing stories and showcase winners of an INHP Essay, Poetry, and Drawing Contest.
