A one-day home makeover with Centier Bank

Recently, we had the opportunity to help Alba, a single mom of three, achieve her dream of homeownership in more ways than one. Alba’s hard work and determination led to the purchase of her first home in 2016. This September, our friends from Centier Bank brought nearly 20 volunteers to conduct a one-day mini home makeover in honor of Alba’s achievement.

Volunteers painted walls, assembled furniture, created themed rooms for the kids and landscaped the outdoor areas. Photos show the amazing home transformation  Alba and her family will now enjoy! Here is what Mary Jo Kennelly, vice president/group manager, business banking at Centier, had to say about the experience:

Many of us at Centier Bank have been very familiar with INHP for many years. When opening our offices in Marion County two years ago, we immediately wanted to join forces with organizations like INHP that make a positive impact in the Indianapolis Community.

Giving back to our communities is one of our primary goals while we meet their financial needs as well.   Through this Living the Dream project we were able to work as a team like never before in painting, doing yard work and cleaning. That is much different than our regular desk work!

When the family arrived to see the changes, it was the most rewarding experience. Seeing those children’s faces was something I don’t think you forget. Our team worked side by side with some of the INHP staff, which allowed everyone to learn more about INHP while we also learned to work in a different way as a team. How many days can you really change the lives of an entire family, work together with co-workers and become friends and leave an example of giving back to others?!

Thanks for the opportunity INHP. Your leadership helps all of us change lives.

The Living the Dream Project Day matches INHP families who have completed one-on-one advising, attended education classes and successfully purchased a home, with volunteer groups who help them with home improvement projects. Alba is one of more than 70 families this program has supported since 2006.

INHP thanks Centier Bank and the volunteers who made this Living the Dream Project Day a success.
