INHP selects 11 grantees to receive funding for neighborhood development initiatives

$900,000 to be awarded across Marion County in 2026

Feb. 4, 2026 – The Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership® (INHP) has selected 11 neighborhood-serving organizations to receive grants for increasing affordable housing preservation and development, and enhancing housing options for residents. Called the Indianapolis Neighborhood Development Initiative (INDI), this year’s program will distribute $900,000 total to these organizations to support their efforts in developing or preserving 743 affordable housing units in Marion County.

The 2026 INDI program grantees include:

  • Community Action of Greater Indianapolis
  • Englewood Community Development Corporation
  • Mapleton-Fall Creek Development Corporation
  • Martindale Brightwood Community Development Corporation
  • Near East Area Renewal
  • Near North Development Corporation
  • RDOOR Housing Corporation
  • Shepherd Community Center
  • Southeast Neighborhood Development
  • West Indianapolis Development Corporation
  • Westside Community Development Corporation.

“Adding more affordable housing options is no easy task, yet these organizations continue to find ways to make it possible within Indianapolis neighborhoods,” said Gina Miller, president and CEO of INHP. “INHP’s INDI grant program will provide them with resources needed to continue their progress, while they increase quality affordable housing options and foster stronger Indianapolis communities.”

Grant criteria include:

Community need: A defined affordable housing challenge will be addressed.

Impact: Emphasis on substantive affordable housing production or preservation.

Leverage: Ability of the applicant to attract other capital sources to support their housing activities.

Partnerships: Level of engagement in city initiatives and/or other partnerships that achieve neighborhood benefit.

“As an organization striving daily to provide residents with the housing stability they need to be successful, the INDI program gives us the financial stability we need to serve our community. Our sincere thanks to INHP for this support for 2026,” said Joe Bowling, executive director of Englewood Community Development Corporation.

Since 1999 and through the support of Lilly Endowment Inc., INHP has provided more than $30.5 million in Indianapolis Neighborhood Development Initiative grant funds to community-based organizations. This competitive application process was open to all nonprofit organizations creating or preserving affordable, sustainable housing opportunities in Marion County.
